| http://www.rootsweb.com/~canns/lunenburg A Brief History of Our Ancestors From 1750-1752, under the auspices of the British government and the Governor of Nova Scotia, our ancestors were enlisted from Germany, Switzerland and the principality of Montbeliard to settle in Nova Scotia. These immigrants came to be known as the Foreign Protestants who, shortly after their arrival in Halifax, settled in nearby Lunenburg County. They were soon joined by pre-Loyalists from New England. Together, all of these people contributed to the richness of our heritage and to the diverse culture of Lunenburg County today Surname Search This document is copyrighted to protect against reproduction and sale for profit. Where a family (e.g. SCHMIDT) appeared in multiple places throughout the list, a separate line is given for each family, and in the order in which they appeared. The order within a family was typically father, mother, then children eldest to youngest. This order was retained during data entry, however during sorting, the order may have been altered. The original text said 1372 names; there were about 1360 after names were entered here. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nemerric/olres/drftcall.html Merrick Co, NE Central City Nonpareil 26 Jul 1917 Men Who Were Drawn Under Conscription Law Friday, July 20, will go down in history as one of the greatest events of American history, for on last Friday the drawing was held at Washington, to secure the required men for the great American army, which will be used in the conflict we are now engaged in. There was considerable ceremony connected with the event at Washington and in every city of the United States great interest was taken, for it decided the fate of thousands of men between the ages of 21 and 31. As fast as the numbers were drawn out they were flashed all over the United States by the Associated Press and were received in this city from the Grand Island Independent. The first number drawn out was No. 268, and in Merrick county that number was held by Edgar Daily. The drawing then proceeded until every one was drawn out. A week ago every person registering was assigned a number, and this is the one they will carry until they are discharged either by exemption or from service. The following we the first ten drawn and the names of those who secured them, which means that they will be summoned before the examination board at the first call. George Johnson, of Central City, Henry Soeth of Vieregg Township, Earl Laub, Chapman, Will Kohlcheen, Vieregg, William Everett, Central City, Carl Rudolf, Archer, Floyd Howe, Central City, Alfred Zlomke, Chapman and Lysle Ferris, Archer. The publication of the official list at this time is impossible for the reason that it has not been received from Washington. Immediately on receipt of this list the local board will notify the ones drawn to appear before them and offer their excuses, and then their fate rests with the exemption board. This work will probably be started the latter part of the week, and will continue until enough men have been accepted to make up the quota this county is expected to furnish, which is sixty-eight. Blank forms have already been received by the local board, and they have everything in readiness to start the work as soon as the official list arrives. The following list, while not official is correct to a great extent, with the possible exception of slight errors made in compiling, and the numbers opposite each name is the number assigned by the clerk of the board two weeks ago. The order in which the names appear is the order in which they are drawn out, and will be summoned before the exemption board:

| WEB PAGE NO LONGER AVAILABLE Wayne Co, NY The names listed below of noteworthy Savannah citizens are from the Savannah portion of the index to "Landmarks of Wayne County, New York", edited by George Washington Cowles, and assisted by Henry Perry Smith and others. The book was published in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1895 by D. Mason & Company, Publishers. We are posting this index as the book contains short notices, biographies and occasional family sketches of the individuals below, most of whom were alive in 1895. The numbers following names are page numbers in the original book. The book "Landmarks of Wayne County" is relatively scarce, due to its age as well as cost at time of publication, but can be found at major genealogical libraries, primarily on microfilm. It's possible, wherever you reside, that your local library could borrow a copy for you from a cooperating library through interlibrary loan. A copy of this book is available for viewing at the main research library of the New York Public Library in New York City, as well as at the Wayne County Dept. of History and Tourism in Lyons, NY. | http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohsummit/familypg/lockwood.htm Old Section; Lockwood Cemetery. Summit Co, OH Transcribed by Stephanie & Jessica Ebel My daughter and I spent a beautiful fall day cataloging the old section of Lockwood Cemetery this fall. Sorry, but so far I've only made it through the old section of this cemetery. I read as many of the stones as I could, not an easy task as many are stuck under overgrown bushes and others worn too badly to read. This cemetery may have been cataloged previously , but if so, I am not aware of it. As it pertains to the web, I am much better off transcribing the cemeteries myself , so avoiding any copyright infractions. I hope to finish it as soon as the weather permits. (That will be about April or May when the snow leaves and I come out of hibernation!!) The following is in order of graves, from the first row closest to the church to the last row farthest from the church.

There are a number of unmarked graves, and many inscriptions are too worn to decipher. The first burial was that of a German settler, Frederick Fesperman, who died in 1816. He lived in his Native State until the winter of 1866, when he came to Newaygo County and bought 80 acres of partially improved land in Dayton Township. He added 40 acres, and had 45 acres under cultivation. In July 1850, he was married to Margaret Duling, a native of New York State. This union has resulted in six children: Raymond E., Margaret J., Sarah M., William H., Edna C. and Myrtie L.
